The short summary:
I'm at the beginning of my homesteading journey. I currently have chickens for eggs, grow a small amount of produce, and try to follow basic rules for saving water, energy, and money. What I dream of is having a tiny house on maybe an acre of property, with meat rabbits and a larger garden. I don't want to be a full time homesteader or live completely off grid, but I do want to be more self-sufficient, especially when it comes to food. It would be nice to have someone else to do this with, whether a friend who shares the property or a life partner (any gender).

More about me:
I am a full time dog trainer, and I love my job! I currently have one small dog and one cat. The dog and I compete in agility, obedience, and some other dog sports.

Besides the homesteading stuff, I spend my free time listening to podcasts, crocheting and doing other crafts, and reading. I love learning new things, especially in the fields of cognitive science and neuroscience (not that I'm an expert). Most of what I read and listen to is nonfiction.

My outlook on life is to look on the bright side, keep working toward my dreams, and find that difficult balance between working as hard as I can and keeping up with self-care.

I like my home to be quiet and reasonably clean. A safe abode in which to relax.

I want to stay in the Bay Area since my business is already established and I have friends and family within 2 hours. Ideally I'd like to be close to the Tri-Valley, but if a great opportunity popped up elsewhere, I'd check it out.

If you're interested, reply here or send me a PM. <3

I'm definitely not a prospective partner, but it's sort of surprising nobody has responded to this yet.....I wonder if it could be because of your desire to stay in the Bay Area. I'm sure you're aware of property prices in that area...have you looked at what an acre of land costs anywhere in the vicinity?
I admit it's a huge problem, one of the Type 1 errors in our society. The Bay Area is full of urban and suburban "permies"; but a whole acre, and gardens ambitious enough to cover much of it, is a rare thing indeed. I appreciate your dilemma from a distance......

Thanks for the reply, Alder. Yes, land prices are ridiculous and it's a huge roadblock to doing this one my own. It would be more feasible if a few people got together to purchase a larger property and split it up, which I would be interested in.

I have a good business in the Tri-Valley (far east side of Bay Area), and family and friends are close by. At this point in time, those factors are winning out over the prospect of easier homesteading in another location. But I'm not saying I would never move away...

Hi Martin! I won't be at PV. I listen to the podcast but the conference is out of my budget at the moment - I'm attending 3 dog training conferences this year!

Tell me more about you and what you're looking for. Feel free to PM me or post here.

hey, me and my partner live in the central valley at the moment but are going to be moving out to the santa cruz area this summer.. that is fairly close to oakland, and we will actually probably have to live in between santa cruz and san jose to have any kind of reasonable rent.. we are way into cats, bikes, backpacking (i make all our gear), bouldering, snowboarding and we have both been vegan for a super long time, but feed our kitties meat (its so gross when i rip a dead chicken body apart to feed them, but yo, little dudes gotta eat, i still could never kill the chicken dudes myself tho :/ ) and would much rather used anything that is used old leather from a thrift shop than something made out of new man-made plastic material. we do archery at redwood regional park sometimes.. we love doing pretty much anything outside and wild... we dont really have many friends and would love to make some.

Hi Tiffany! Thanks for posting! Definitely let me know next time you're going to be up this way. I have Fridays and Saturdays off from work, and with enough of a heads up could make other times available. Let's be friends.

no wonder he is so sad, he hasn't seen this tiny ad:
