I'm always surprised by the amount of diversity of plants, animals, and insects I have gained, even in the short time I have been working on my food forest. The little things like this really do make it seem worthwhile to me.

Dale, that's great! I have hummingbirds, but I've never even seen a nest before. Very cool.

Look for Hawk and eagle nests. Hummingbirds set up house under these birds of prey. Crows,Jays and other predators of young hummingbirds, don't want to be beneath the nest of birds of prey, since they are quite vulnerable to predation if they go there. Eagles and Hawks don't bother with extremely small and hard to catch prey.

I saw this one, half an hour after posting my last comment. Not a rarity here. I probably saw 30 of them yesterday. More likely it was the same few, over and over again.

After seeing all these great bird pictures, I had to share this little falcon nesting in a pine in my yard. He is a Chimango Carcara.Very common in southern Chile.
My kids had to climb the tree to snap this photo with my ipad. Isn't he adorable?

Thanks, Todd
I have lots more beautiful photos on my nature journal blog but I don't know how to put it at the bottom of all my posts. You know where lots of people put quotes and links? Can anyone help me with that?

Great picture Lori.
As for your question: copy your blog address to the clipboard, then go to the dashboard at the top of these pages, click on MyProfile, then click on General Information About Yourself, paste the address into the box for Signatures. Hope that works. If not, click your heels together 3 times and Burra will appear. That never fails.
