Living in Northern Canada I am envious of the opportunities those further south have in the choices of productive tree's and perennials. Here in Zone 2a it is very difficult to find things hardy enough to surviveof a perennial nature. Apple trees haven't made it through a winter, edible crabs have a 50% mortality, hardy Kiwi isn't, and so on. Have blueberries and Haskap growing but production will be a while. Not sure if the sunchokes took. In other words so far have far more failures than successes. Could certainly use some help here.

Hi Max. This must be a real challenge! I thought it's difficult here (in the rainy Netherlands), but your climate is much harder! I like your motto 'it can be done!'

Hi Max, I live in Northern Alberta, just 2 hour drive from NWT. I'm just starting my garden, turning my lawn into it. We're also hardiness zone 2a, but we're on the 58th parallel.

I also planted one hardy kiwi this spring, it is hardiness zone 3, but I planted it close to the foundation of our house and keeping fingers crossed.

I'm going to buy a zone 1 apple tree (September Ruby) this fall from a nursery that sells online. Apples don't do well here too, but I have high hopes for that one.
