Hi team!

I recently came into a reasonable amount of untreated Rimu timber (high quality New Zealand hard wood) that is riddled with Borer. Borer from what I have researched only come out to breed and otherwise make human life hell.

We originally thought we could use the wood for planter boxes as its sturdy and untreated but were told it would be unwise to introduce it to our land. Chemical treatment is a no go for us as is any difficult natural solution because we can just burn wood if we can't recycle it.... I considered drowning the wood in salt water for some time but have no idea if that would kill the borer.

My Q: It seems silly to ask but is the potential danger of introducing the wood to our land far outweigh the recycling of the wood?
