After an hour of listening and dancing in my chair, I fired up the tablet again to take more videos. You can see them all in my youtube page.

With one drum and just one stick, Colm Phelan puts Ginger Baker to shame on the Bodhrán. Aug. 22 at Drea's Pub in Hillpoint, WI.
Sorry about the video quality, I didn't venture from my chair to get a better view but the audio is pretty good.

I have been listening to a bunch of Hugo the Poet since they announced him leaving Rap News. I am really digging his rap/poetry and look forward to more from him as his time frees up.

Also other artists I have been going deep into listening to recently

Lindsey Stirling
Pretty Lights
Bliss N Eso

I saw Chris Stapleton on the cover of a magazine the other day, and was like, "Huh. Wonder what he's been up to since he left the Steeldrivers."
Ever feel like you've been living under a rock? (No offense to anyone on here who's actually living under a rock.)
Anyway, I went back to the old heavy book of CD's that I used to lug around and listened to the first Steeldrivers album, and remembered coming off Rabbit Ear's pass and coming around a curve, and suddenly seeing the entire Yampa valley laid out in front of me. A flock of pelicans (I know, wtf, right?) flew across right at eye level, and I almost hit a semi. What a fucking awesome bunch of tracks.

I love Ali Farka Toure!

Thank you for reminding me about him. I haven't listened to him in about a decade.

My kind of music, on my kind of instrument!

Trance is the right word for it, too. I was off with the fairies by the end.

Lars Hollmer, Robbie Basho, Kevin Yazzie, Captain Beefheart, Sleep's 'Holy Mountain', Jacob do Bandolim... I could go on and on. I listen to these musicians because I'm a lousy composer myself, and they mostly do a swell job getting the feelings inside me moving.

I like the Levellers. Here are three songs
Folkly Levellers from 1991:

Rocky Levellers from 1997

Anthemic Levellers from 2012

If you like your music with a hefty side order of social justice, and ecological activism, and you like the noise they make, this is the band for you.
