Hi Everyone,

My boyfriend and I are planning to embark on a wwoof/internship tour across the US starting this summer.  He is graduating this spring from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Environmental Sciences and a focus in Sustainable Agriculture.  I have been volunteering on local farms and I work in a fine-dining restaurant famous for its relationships with local, organic farms.  I have a lot to learn about permaculture (I've been reading and studying) and he is dying to apply what he has been learning in school.  We would like to travel across the US and work at farms along the way.  I'm sure we'll register with WWOOF, but I wanted to ask if anyone could suggest particular farms that are welcoming to couples and are established permaculture farms.  We are looking for an educational experience because neither of us have the money for an expensive permaculture design certificate at this present time... that will be an investment we make down the road.  I would appreciate any suggestions.  Thank you so much.

IN the past Ive offered the PDC to interns who put in 3 months. My place is very rustic, but a solid camp in the summer. Theres alot of other places that are more developed- I tend to think of this site as a starter's best bet cause nothing is really developed far enough that it doesnt need to be thought through- which means the learning is hands on, thought provoking and integrated. no academic PDC here.

Im striving to make the PDC this year one which interns attend with regular clients- last year I did it just for interns and it was a little too small- after 4 interns spent 3 months togetehr, the PDC didnt have that super charged feeling. so This year im working with a few other folks to make sure the PDC for interns is integrated into a regular course.

if you are interested, and would like to help set up a very challengeing and rewarding site- I fouc on timberlot management, but have small animal systems and orchards- drop a line.

my website has intern info and is linked in my signature line.

cheers

I have what can be described as a single family sized garden at this point but am in the process of expanding it. I have 5 acres, 2 of which I will designate for food production and the other 3 are a mix of grass and forest. The forest I would like to refurbish at some point. I live in western washington near Everett and Seattle if you are interested. We also will have indoor housing available so you don't have to camp during your stay.

Bring me the box labeled "thinking cap" ... and then read this tiny ad:
