So, the best time to photograph fire seems to be when it's dark. I noticed it gets really really dark in Montana. That makes magical forms on fire.

Here's my bath 4 inch batch box heated 3 full loads from  after warm up and 2/3 full and it is about 40 degrees Celsius picture here 2 minutes after loading from ember stage will add another at full fire as soon as it gets there
