Well speculated, that's what it is.  We're clearing the conifers out around all the hugels at the Abbey.  I dont have a clear target for where another hugel is being built but I do have muddy paths.  So for now the limbs keep my boots clean and decay a bit faster then they might in a pile.  Hopefully they don't get cemented in when things start to dry out.  Cross that bridge when I get there.

More fun with a chainsaw, clearing the Abbey for proper permaculture diversity and symbiosis.  

I'd like to pretend it was all planned out to let the 6" tree fall into the 12" tree leaning backwards toward the fence, using it like a pick to keep it from going where it wanted... Eh so maybe i will.

No fences were harmed in the harming of trees today.

I never cared much for it but today country music has a really solid sound.  It's 8 and I can still do work outside and I'm on a big porch without rocking chairs at the Abbey.  I spent a lot of time in the deep South and I resisted the dielect actively but I feel a gravity towards rocking chairs on porches.  That's when ya know it's not frivilous culture, it's nature.  Alan Jackson's got a good harmony.  

The minds that appreciate the binary dance between potential and kinetic; see a root as profound as a flower a berry or even a fruit.

The first day since I've been here that I can say it was almost hot - that is limbing trees at a steady pace and in the sun.  It's a real good time to get as much heavy lifting done as possible.  Like all of the nuances that don't get much attention and often taken for granted under the sensational surface of permaculture - Know Thine Own Self.  Because some plants can either be used for toilet paper or cure an illness and depending on the time or the situation, its best use is one or the other.
