Tree Seeds.com wholesale and retail tree seeds from USA

I've been looking to expand my food forest within the next couple of years and I came across this site while looking for wholesale tree seeds:

I had a look around the site and found that they carry seeds for some of my favorite permaculture trees and some other exotic things that I would love to try to grow here in Maine.  I found a few interesting items, some of which I could grow here, and some that I would have to buy once I retire to the south 40 years from now.  Look at what I found:

They also have a growing guide which has some good info for anyone trying to start trees from seed.  Most of my current food forest was grown from saplings or bare root trees that I bought in the spring 5 years ago.  Now that I know what grows well in my area, I'm considering expanding my forest by planting tons of seeds.  I'm thinking that maybe this is a good resource to get started towards that goal.

I haven't ordered anything yet, as I'm just barely keeping up with my harvests for this year but I thought that other permies might want to know about this resource.  I hope that they still have plenty of seeds in stock during the winter months when I'll be able to obsessively compile my wish list for the spring.

Thanks for the share! It's actually been very difficult to find a bulk seed supplier that is either in Canada or will ship across the border. Even though the crappy exchange rate irks me everytime, the free shipping+reasonable prices more than makes up for that. Most online nurseries I find are asking $0.50 a pop for a single seed before... and that's at "bulk" price... (nothing rare or fancy either)

- Etsy store with good reviews. They've been on the web since 2012 apparently.

- A nursery review site has mixed opinions which could mean they've grown too much recently and quality has gone down as a result. (or just some complainers recently)

- Almost monthly occurring 4 day flash sales that range from 15-25% off and there seem to be no restrictions on varieties - anything goes?

- Something to note in the Shipping Information: "*Please make sure the seeds you select can be shipped into your country. We don't provide Phyto Certificates. We don't offer refunds if your order is confiscated by your countries customs officials." So, do your due-diligence

Variety Packs are pretty neat, as they've selected native trees for each state. You get 150 seeds from 6 varieties for $4 - $16.

They should have a flash sale again in the next week or so, if that happens, I'll give them a try and report back. I've sent them an inquiry on where they sourced a few of their varieties, so let's see how that goes.

I have a friend wanting to start a Christmas Tree farm, but the waitlist for seedlings is 4 years.  Do you think it's possible I could buy these seeds and grow appropriate seedlings in less?

Cool! Thanks Craig! I've always seen and found saplings and grafted trees but it seems most nurseries don't offer tree seeds. And I never even thought to google the words tree seeds. This is super cool and I will certainly be looking into what they have to offer!

I wouldn't worry about seedlings in that case... since its 4 years out, why not buy a tree or 2, some rooting hormone, and shred it down into a few hundred clone starts?  It may take an extra year to get them to bare root size, but that would still be faster than 4yr wait.   Or if you are feeling really froggy, you can build a hydroponic cloner or 6 & do the same thing.

Placed an order from treeseeds.com on December 4th, 2018 for 375 assorted tree seeds of 7 varieties. A week later on December 11, they told me the order had not shipped because they were behind in shipping. December 18th I requested shipping and tracking information or to have my order refunded. No response until January 4th I receive an automated e-mail saying they have shipped. January 11 now today, and no items have been received. I should have taken heed from many of the poor reviews of the company before placing my order.

Does anyone have experience with this company in particular or have experience with ordering seeds and not receiving them after being charged?

Does anyone recommened any other online tree seed vendors?

On a positive note I placed a tree seed order with Sheffields seeds, was provided tracking info, and they were delivered within a week of ordering.

I have ordered seeds from Tree Seeds twice and they were shipped and arrived promptly.

Sounds like you have been using email. Have you tried calling them? 802-363-1582 M-F 9am-4pm EST

If anyone wants to add TreeSeeds.com to the Seed and Plant Source Review Grid all we need is some reviews in this thread.  Just start your post with "I give this seed source X out of 10 acorns" and then continue on with your review.  If you're in the middle of a dispute with them, you might want to wait a bit before putting a review in to avoid possibly wanting to change it later.
