After writing about the sad major decline of Torrey Pines in San Diego California, I thought I'd provide a success story of how to plant them under harsh conditions by replicating Nature through biomimicry. The beauty here is that anyone can experiment with numerous native shrubs in their own part of the world and report what works for them. The correct mycorrhizal species is also important. It may take a while, but the rewards can be wonderful for sharing. My subject here is a coast sage scrub bush called Laurel Sumac, but others of like habits will work.
