I am 42 years old, divorced, with four lovely and capable children.  Right now I am a nursing student, but I have been other things in the past.  I live in a small mountain village in the Adirondack mountains, but I am looking to sell this property, move a bit further (farther?) out from town in the next few years, and establish a little homestead.  I have to stay near Saranac Lake because of my kids.

I am quiet, introspective, introverted, down-to-Earth and bookish.  I like history and documentary films, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology.  I garden, and keep a little flock of laying hens, but would like to expand on that enterprise.  I have no big dreams, only little ones.  Not looking to be a farmer.  The main point here is that I would like a romantic partner to settle in with for the long haul.  I don't really "date", and I'm only somewhat social.  I have solid, close, long-term friendships, and a really satisfying family life.  I make things, lots of them.  Let's see...solid domestic skills, compulsive reader...what else?  I dunno.  If you want to know more you will have to ask me yourself, I guess.  I'm pretty old-fashioned in many ways.  I dislike technology, but do use Facebook a bit.

I don't want to do the long-distance thing. That hasn't worked out well for me in the past, and I'd like someone fairly nearby.  So, if you are from say, Oklahoma, that would be too far no matter how handsome, clever, and witty you may be.  I don't seem to be attracted to men who are much younger than me, either.  My life is full of children, so whoever is with us must be inclined to treat them like people.  I prefer to be with someone who can contribute equally financially to our living situation, and also has domestic/carpentry skills.  What I value most are help, support, true friendship, fidelity, loyalty, and real love.  I am romantic, and very very affectionate, but also highly pragmatic.  Not a lot of selling points here, I realize now that it's all written out like that.  :)  Whatever.  I'm a total catch, I swear.

P.S.

No matter how many times I proofread anything there will always be typos that I don't see until I hit send.  This time will be no exception.

Don't sell yourself short Paula, you sound like quite a catch to me. If things were different I might just be saying "that's the girl for me". (Age, distance but mostly circumstance) Alas, it will not be so.

You sound very interesting to me too.  If I lived closer and wasn't married, I'd be in touch.  Good luck with your search!

No disrespect intended to those who are farther along the path than I.  I suppose I should qualify that assessment of my situation with the fact that it is based on feedback.  Doesn't seem that women over forty are given much consideration as viable partners.  That's just my personal experience.  :)

Some say that we can spend a whole life searching for persons as partners or friends
and we will find the wrong persons because we are searching and don't trust the flow of life
to show us those person that are a blessing to include in our lives and hearts.

I find you strikingly beautiful... just too far north... were you closer, I would be honored to get to know you.

Not sure about handsome, clever or witty- but I AM in(not from) Oklahoma!

I'm not sure it counts as putting yourself down- the 'aging' bit or expressing other things that can be judged or construed as 'belittling' one's self if your attempt is to be upfront and honest with the world(and on the interwebs no less!).

You're aging, I'm aging, we're all aging- but aging can also mean experienced, solidified in your ethics, your goals, your concept of reality... aging can mean wiser, stronger and aware that you're no longer a Spring chicken. Though if you ever WERE a spring chicken, that'd be a hell of a thing- considering you're all human 'n stuff now.

With nearly 8 billion co-inhabitants of the planet we call Earf... surely one of them will stumble upon this thread(years after of course, when you've given up and built a hobbit house out of cob and lined the walls with cast iron and crockery) and complete the picture with you.

Dunno why you're so averse to younger fellas... you might could getcha one and train him up right!

My sincerest well wishes for luck in your quest...

Be still my heart.  Thank you, Mr. F.

Tell me...why is it you have to be so far away?

Just to annoy me, I bet.  ;)

Ahhh, you're a super cutie!  And sound pretty cool and chill. I have a hard time believing you're not beating them away with a stick!

Maybe you should take up fly fishing?  You'd then be completely irresistible up in your neck of the woods.

Thanks.  Got nothing against fly fishing, so I'll take it into consideration.  :)

Hi Paula,

I live in the Adirondacks too.   In Hope,
I would say “town of”  but .... we don’t even have a post office lol.
Aging... lol  I see you have a sense of humor too because You look and sound amazing

OMG ...I just made it creepy didn’t I 😳
Sorry.  I hope not too much

I’m 44 and have 3 kids which mean the world to me.  Sorry if this reply sounds silly. I’ve never
Tried to start a conversation by text lol

I am looking for the same things but would be happy with making a new friend

Regards,

Joe

"OMG ...I just made it creepy didn’t I"  You just made me laugh right out, so thanks, I needed that.

Yeah, sense of humor, I've got that in spades.  Much of what I say has some little hidden joke that's just for me in it.

I'd be happy to shoot the shit with you, but upload a picture, huh?  I find it so hard to have a conversation with anyone who won't show me who they are.  I have found Permies to be a little frustrating in that way.  You can't do a profile picture without separate photo hosting, and it's too much hassle for most people.  THAT'S what I find creepy, is talking to someone I can't see.  Well, that and some of the other messages I've gotten.  -Not that I haven't met some really good people on here.  They know who they are.

Alright then.
