happy face glitch

So this isn't anything critical but I've noticed when I use a happy face :) it no longer becomes the little yellow emoticon :( . It hasn't always been this way, it used to work. It appears to still work for others as I see them in recent posts, but I also notice it not working for others as well. Just FYI. :)

If you look below the text box to the list of 'disabled' things, smilies is automatically disabled now...just click away the check and they will appear again.  It had me stumped for awhile too.  


EDIT...I see that by my enabling them yours in my 'quote' are there also

I think it has something to do with this thread: https://permies.com/t/69212/Emoticons-repetitions. I think Paul made smilies disabled by default. If you want them in your post, there's a little check box when you're writing the post that says "disable smilies." (it's down below the "attachments" tab-thingy). Make sure that box is not checked, and it should work.

It could also be that you're typing in the code a little off. Like, :O doesn't work, but :o should. 8) should get you a smiley with sunglasses. There's one with an afro, as well as one with horns, but I don't remember how to make them..

So I noticed in the screenshot in Nicoles post the list of emoticons in a reply. I seem to recall seeing that in replies months ago but I don't have that anymore. Is it just me or is that a site-wide disappearance?

It's a site-wide disappearance, I think. I opened my big mouth and inserted my foot in this thread: https://permies.com/t/69212/Emoticons-repetitions, and now the whole thing is gone.

I'm afraid to say more, or we might lose the ones we still have
