For eighteen years Four Quarters InterFaith Sanctuary has been the leading non-profit owned center for Nature Based Spirituality in the Mid-Atlantic, and is rapidly becoming a leading center for Global Limits awareness as well. Four Quarters owns 100+ acres as part of its campground/retreat center with an additional 50+ acres privately owned, is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by over 300 dues paying Members. Income is provided by Donations and our Membership base, our own spiritual events, rentals to outside festivals, and by our growing artisanal Winery. Among our five permanent staff we practice both commutarian/income sharing arrangements, as well as conventional wage for service. We do share common meals and living space. During our season our population can triple with summer staff and interns.

        Four Quarters is creating two full time, permanent, live-in positions in the fields of Facilities Operations and Food Service Operations. Working directly with our Executive Officer, these leadership positions require the ability to manage and lead our volunteer staff and may include advisory seats on our Board of Directors.

Facilities Operations:
Responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment, general maintenance of the campground and its facilities and is primarily responsible for planning and managing annual construction projects. Core competencies must include:
* Experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of mechanical equipment including 2-cycle and 4-cycle ICE, automotive, diesel equipment, generators and wood/metal working equipment.
* Experience in general construction techniques of masonry, framing, roofing, 120v and split phase power and plumbing.
* Planning, bidding and purchasing experience to support (as an example) the construction of a 30 x 70 foot laminated truss dance pavilion with concrete pier foundations.
* Training and supervision of our volunteer construction staff of summer interns.

Food Service Operations:
Responsible for all operations of the commercial kitchen, planning and completion of food service for our heavy seasonal schedule (currently 10 food service weekends and 2 food service weeks). In our off season this person prepares many of the meals served to our permanent live-in staff, and is lead planner for our household garden and food preservation. Core competencies must include:
* Institutional or commercial food service management and production.
* Ability to maintain the standards of a licensed commercial kitchen operation.
* Planning, bidding and purchasing experience to support (as an example) a omnivore/vegetarian meal plan for 350 people over 5 days.
* Training and supervision of our volunteer kitchen staff of summer interns.

Preferred additional skills and interests would include:
* Gardening for food production, bulk food processing/preservation, live stock management and general agricultural experience.
* Ability to design and build liquid and electrical control systems. Graphical design, structure design, permaculture design, web site design, renewable energy design.
* Ability to develop, produce and market new locavore food products from our commercial kitchen.
* Cabinet making and fine woodworking skills.
* Computer, database, CAD and networking skills; excellent writing skills.
* Ability in event organizing and in developing/presenting educational content in all of these specialties.

Our ideal candidates:
* A stable couple in their mid-thirties/forties, children welcome; sharing our required core competencies between them.
* Good physical health and experience in the rigors of a deeply rural lifestyle. Free of significant debt.
* Deep awareness of the issues of global resource depletion and industrial decline.
* Already well advanced in acquiring the knowledge, skill set and life choices necessary in adapting to The Age of Limits.
* We will consider qualified single candidates who possess some of our core requirements.

What we can provide:
* The permanence of an established, landed nonprofit with a history of good governance and financial responsibility.
* A fully equipped commercially licensed kitchen, complete wood and metal workshop.
* Clean rural area, two hours west of Wash DC and Baltimore. 2 acre garden, young orchard, 25 acres AG land, 125 acres wooded with clean flowing creek.
* The opportunity to build a life of deep attachment to the Land in preparation for the evolving global crisis.
* For the ideal couple, separate housing in a renovated creekside mobile home. All utilities, most food costs, use of nonprofit owned vehicles. Combined monthly salary of up to $1,200 plus child allowance for the first year trial period. Negotiable thereafter.
* For a single, similar arrangements and proportionate salary.
