We are planning on raising meat birds this summer. I am very interested in the paddock system that Paul writes about on his website. But there's something I don't understand...

The article claims that this system doesn't require daily maintenance. Paul gives "coop and run" a "poop cleaning factor" of 0-1 (best score is 10) while the paddock system gets a poop cleaning factor of 9, with a 10 if the mini-coop "has no bottom".

So, if the mini-coop DOES have a bottom how does it get a 9 while a coop in the "coop and run" system gets only a 1? What is so different about their design/construction that accounts for this discrepancy in scores?

I think that at 9 and at 10 there is no bottom.

Ah, a reply from the Man Himself.

Thanks for the clarification, Paul.
