I am looking for inexpensive whole herbs on-line for making tinctures. Does anyone know any good resources?

I've bought from Mountain Rose Herbs before and will again. They stock all organic herbs, solid prices too. I even buy my cooking spices from them in bulk. Shipping seems to usually be a bit expensive, so I tend to order a lot at once.

Check out Herbalcom or I-Herb.  Good quality and prices.  Best to ship in cooler months as the really hot summer days, esp. in the back of a freight truck can get those temps rather high and might detract from the quality of the herbs.  On a 80 degree day I think I read somewhere that it can get it to 140 degrees in the back of an unrefrigerated panel truck.

I was going to recommend Mountain Rose Herbs also.  But I started wondering what you mean by "whole" herbs?

And I have to ask, coz I'm nosey, why do you not grow your own?

Well I am joining the air force so I wont have a permanent residence for awhile, but I also wanted to get herbs for tinctures. Until I get a place of my own I won't be growing, until then. But I would like to grow as many medicinal plants as I can when I do get some land.

What i meant by whole was, dried, but not all chopped up into little pieces, but rather in its whole state.

http://www.starwest-botanicals.com/category/trinity/
and
http://www.sfherb.com/

Are the two biggest herb wholesalers in the US. Starwest bought up Trinity and I think Pacific Botanicals. They used to be good.

If you're looking for portions smaller than a pound (or not)

Ever since I found this suit I've felt strange new needs. And a tiny ad:
