I normally peruse the forums by clicking on Forums at the top to see everything that's been posted.  Today after browsing through the first page (which was normal length), the second one was only three  posts long.  The third was longer but only by a bit.  I waited an hour and now the second page is longer (11 posts) and the third looks to be normal.

Mike, today there was a major spam flood (is that how you call it?). After those were deleted, page lists became shorter. Excuse me for my terrible explaination but hopefully staff will respond:)
Meanwhile I don't know how forums work and never been a good coder; I think what happened is that those spam are not deleted but put on probation. They are there, but not visible.

Awesome, that makes sense.  I didn't realize probational posts took up space but were hidden.  Cool stuff.

Mike, I am seeing the same thing you are.

I reported spam this morning so like s. ayalp said: " They are there, but not visible." so that must be it.

Thanks for being on top of things.

Yikes, yeah there was a LOT of spam. Like 117 spam threads over the course of a few hours. If you go to page 5, does it look normal to you?

Devaka did something this morning to fix a similar glitch in the 'earthworks' forum as discussed in this thread https://permies.com/t/84494/Posts-coming-chinese-kanji#698863

I noticed my first page of recent posts had only a few left after the spam was deleted but then it gradually got longer...never thought to look at page two https://permies.com/t/84494/Posts-coming-chinese-kanji#698855

Do the pages all look normal now? I tired to push some buttons and fix it, but I'm not sure I was successful...

There's a city wide manhunt for this tiny ad:
permaculture and gardener gifts (stocking stuffers?)
