BRK Post 48
Beautiful day here, about 70 degrees and sunny most of the day.
Today I framed out space for
straw and
cob insulation then did my best to design and draw out my plan for the door. I'd love any thoughts on it. I'm still not sure what to do for a latch. I'm thinking a sliding latch operated with a lever would keep the door tight against the door jamb, not sure how to do that yet.
The latch side of the door is angled so the width of the door can clear the frame without needing too large of a reveal.
I drew four hinges on the door thinking four will be
enough to hold the weight. I still need to find hinges rated for a heavy door.
I'm going to cut a groove around the frame to tuck a felt weather strip into. Going to have to use hand tools and a circular saw on the bottom of the jamb, unless I make the door even shorter with another board for the bottom. I wanted to get as much height as possible though.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
