So important. Many come to me in pain because some small injury caused them to alter their walk pattern then never returned to the proper pattern after they healed.

I believe you want 4+ inches of wood between the bees and the cold so it takes a pretty beefy chunk to have a good enough cavity left over in the middle for them.  I'm thinking 18" diameter or better.
