I was wondering if any of you knew of any books on the subject?

Try biorealis.com. For some reason can't post the link. They have a digester plan.

I have been watching lots of youtube videos and gaining interest! where lots of livestock would come in handy. seems like the only byproduct would be compost produced at a faster rate and NG you can cook on or run a propane refrigerator, no?

I've been looking for the last few months at the roof top bio-digesters on you tube in India and am intrigued, may be something to play with next season. Speed of decomp and the ability to use the waste for fertilizer also intriguing.
Some of the set-ups look a bit scary, large bladders of methane could make a pretty big boom.
