What is the best way to meet people and talk about homesteads in this site ? I see some people besides myself only get views not comments , any advice would be great lol I wish it was better platform for communicating with others I’d love to have a talk about homesteads with like minded people , is there a better site for that ?

Yes!...Well, a photo can't hurt...And this can be a very good space for discussion; at least in my experience...

You are posting in the singles section which is for folks seeking partners.

If you just want to talk about homesteading try the other sub-forums or click "recent topics" on top to see which threads are currently active. People don't care what you look like on the rest of the site since they aren't looking to hook-up.

Shaun, so far this is the best site I've found for talking with others about homesteading, gardening, permaculture, etc. Folks here tend to be friendly and helpful. Why not try posting questions in a variety of categories that interest you. I jump around, looking for topics that interest me. Not only can that be fun, but it's highly educational. I've learned lots of things just by following others conversations.

I think a lot of people check out the personals section.  If posts have a picture I'm guessing they are much more likely to get a conversation started.  I also suspect many relationships start from that one post with respondents replying by Purple Mooseage.  So we don't think there is anything happening but the poster (with a sexy picture) is getting inundated with romantic conversations privately.

Hey Shaun, I misspoke.  I meant the Permaculture Singles section.  Looks like you created your own post there to advertise your availability.  If I were in your shoes, that's the post I'd add a photo to (if desired).  Hopefully that one gets you some interest.  I believe posts that have longer write-ups probably generate more interest.  Same goes for replies to other, well-written posts.  For instance, if a lady types up 4 paragraphs about her likes, dislikes, permie plans, etc, I'm guessing she would be more likely to reply to a longer post by a potential suitor.

That's just my guess, I don't really know how women work...

Good luck and welcome to permies.com!

It seems that the men who get most responses in the singles section also post a lot in the main sections of the forums.  I think it's because prospective partners can get to know more about them without even having to specifially ask.  Maybe try posting about your projects, or asking questions about things you want to research, or answering other people's questions, in the main forums so that people can get to know you and what your interests are.

Hi Patricia, there are two ways to chat here on permies.  One is to just reply to threads (as you did already).  The much more private way is to use a PM (Purple Mooseage).  Up at the top of your screen should be a link for "My purple mooseages".  In there you can send notes to other folks on the site.  That's the place to exchange phone numbers or share things that you don't want out on the web.
