I am a member of a permaculture/sustainable agriculture collective in western CT called A New Hope Collective, and our farming operation is called A New Hope Farm. Currently, we use several plots of land owned by friends and family to grow produce and raise some chickens because we cannot afford a central location of land in western CT... Our goal is to create a communal farm in the Northwestern part of the state. If anyone is interested in coming to one of our monthly meetings or organizing a meeting you can message me or email me at Rfin12@gmail.com.

A New Hope Farm is a farming collective located in western CT. We use several plots of land own by friends and family to grow local, sustainable food for our families and community. Currently we have a kickstarter for a spring seed fund. Anyone one who donates $20 or more will receive a packet of Baptisia australis seeds (Blue False Indigo) which is a hardy, North American, native, perennial plant with beautiful blue or yellow flowers that attracts many beneficial insects. If you are unable to donate please share our the link any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm putting in three hugelkultur beds this year, and one is already complete. I just got back my soil test results, and my soil has a PH of 5.3 which is to low for the plants i want to grow. Does anyone know if its worth adding some lime? I assume over the years the decaying wood will raise the PH of the soil.

Depending on the variety of lettuce and where you live its possible that the plant didn't fully die and part of the crown is growing back.

Many lettuce cultivars self seed.
