@ Conner: have you got started on any of this plan? It sounds pretty good. I'm also in the ozarks and have a lot of woods and little pasture. I've been toying around with maybe converting some to pasture. I'm just not too up on the standard practice of doze it all off and burn then plant grass etc. thanks and good luck!
Got my fingers crossed for a smooth closing Paul! With risk of cluttering this post even more I must put my 2 cents in. Ditch the base camp separate house idea start on the land. Reasons = less upfront cash outlay this can go towards getting things right on the land and might help keep out of a bind if shit happens and it does. FEMA Rvs are cheap and there already here if you had to have a roof fast and would be an easy sell/ recycle when your Woofati is up and running. The weather will be right for work and you will be there. Just a quick skim of my thoughts of the top of my head. Thanks for all that you do Paul and best of luck form one of your ozark region followers
Judd's: 277-5503 talked to them today didn't think to ask about wood chips but there sawdust is $10 per pickup load seems fair to me but the only use I can think of is homemade fire starters. It's all hardwoods as they are a pallet mill.
Your thinking of Judd's. I too have wondered about chips, saw dust, scraps etc. never have stopped to ask as it seems I'm always in a hurry but I would bet they will let "waste" go for next to nothing.
Jennifer what have y'all got growing, living, happening etc? We just got our place last fall and haven't started much yet just trying to see what others in the area have been able to implement from permies.
The ozarks region does need it own sure enuff section. Don't know how to get this started but think it would be great for us as y'all know our weather patterns are not like the rest of the "Midwest".
Hello folks I'm new to this "forum and permaculture altogether" but I am the proud owner of 80 acres in the ozarks of southern Missouri and am wanting to share and learn of experiences of others hopefully near me please help me get started! I will be glad to try to answer questions the best I can about our great state for whoever is interested. Thanks!
