Biography
Moved to Galicia in May 2013. Lots of land clay based. Looking to build a cob house. Have already planted many fruit trees and starting various gardens. Looking forward to learning the many aspects of permaculture and incorporate as much as possible in to the land that we have.

Don't know if you have sorted out your compost toilet for in the house yet but in case you haven't I would suggest checking out the Bio Lan toilet from Finland. We have had one in the house for a year now and I would recommend it. It is a bit expensive at 1300 euros but has really been good for us.
The air vent that you have already would be good for your air vent for the toilet. It has a rotating drum that keeps the waste in place until composted and then empties into a small bucket. You only have to empty the bucket about once a month and it doesn't smell. Well worth a look at. Good luck.

Well Heidi, I would say there is always hope. Many times throughout history there has been "hopeless" situations. Everyone has an opinion but no one can really predict what is going to happen. So this doom and gloom scenario is only Guy's opinion. I personally feel that geoengineering is very bad for the planet and
humans as a species but also think that if this was stopped it would allow the planet to recover. I cannot help thinking that this Guy is probably trying to work people up to a state where they think that geoengineering is the only way we are going to survive. Carry on with the good work you are doing and think positive.

Found that pine cones make a good fire starter as well.

After decades of "Geoengineering" or spraying aluminum, barium, etc in to the atmosphere under the guise of protecting us from the sun's radiation also known as chemtrails the poisoning of the planet and side affects are going to be so devastating that our efforts in reducing our carbon footprints and the like will be meaningless.
Many people still think that this is not happening even now when governments are openly admitting they are doing it. This needs to stop so the planet can recover.

We put the remainder of lemon, limes, etc (basically citrus fruits) in a jar of vinegar for about 4 weeks. Take the peels out and mix with water and it makes a very good general purpose cleaner.

There are many valid and good points that people have made but if geoengineering continues they will all be pointless.

Yes we are about 18 kilometres from Monforte. We bought a 6 hectre finca with ruins and working on land and building. I have to pick someone up at Santiago airport Tuesday the 28 Jan and will be passing by Pont Ulla (according to google map).
Would be good to stop and have a quick chat if okay with you. I figure I would be around 12: 30 or 1:00. Let me know if that would be okay.

Hello Jose,

Don't know if you ever found a place for cattail or not. I just registered and saw your post. I live in Galicia as well and just starting our adventure. We went to a nursery called Viveros Franco near Abadin (North of Lugo) and not sure whether they had cattail or not but
it was a very large nursery and good chance they may have it. Where about in Galicia are you? We are about 8 kilometres from Boveda toward Pobra Brollon. It would be good to link up with someone in Galicia.
