>> Established Cooperative Farm Based Community Seeks Permaculturist <<

Location: PNW - Temperate Rain Forest!

Yup, we are the real deal. We own outright a few hundred acres in a 700,000 acre national forest west of the Willamette Valley. Its in a temperate rain forest. USDA zone 9A! About 75 acres of the property is non-woodlands. Multiple streams run thru the property. Basically heaven on earth. There is a 2 acre fenced in garden (elk & bear proof); 2 acre fenced in mature orchards (same); multiple residences; greenhouses; shops; hay fields, animals, etc.  We have well established non-farm income. Basically we are as together as one might reasonably hope for.

Our head gardener is leaving in a few months (to deal with family illness). So we are looking for someone/couple to join us in our little corner of the world in order to take his place and continue the work of switching our operations from traditional methods of food cultivation to a permaculture based approach. You will have up to 4 people working under your guidance.

Desirable candidates will have verifiable experience in both gardening/permaculture (experience which demonstrates a proven work ethic, follow thru & results largely free of day-to-day-managerial oversight); as well as experience living and working with other folks.

We offer: non-funky housing; prepared civilized meals; monthly stipend; community wide wireless internet; free vehicle usage; supportive, enriching community culture; proximity to urban  services & culture; proximity to the ocean;  and more.

Also, we are always looking for people with construction skills; and/or farming skills. Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Your project sounds interesting and appealing. I currently live on a cooperative farm in VA. My skill set runs to construction and repair, tractoring, gardening and raising various farm animals (been using pig for clearing raw land!).

Please contact me at snowcrash@planetmail.com so that we can talk about how we/I might move your project forward.

Thanks!

Hi Richard,

Kudos to you. I find your project both ambitious and doable-very rare. You seem to have found the magic sweet spot between low cost of entry and easy path to growth.

I am into living off the grid, simply, sustainably and in cooperation with others. So your project appeals to me.

I am interested in talking to you about becoming involved in your project both as a resident as well as a facilitator. In a former life I was a real estate lawyer, and I also have direct living experience with cooperative communities (I formed 2 of them). I also have farming (I currently live on a working farm that grows seed for mail order sales) as well as construction skills. so I have a unique insight into what is needed to drive the project forward.

Please contact me at snowcrash@planetmail.com so that we can move forward on this.

I live on a working cooperative farm in Virginia that grows and sells seeds for its livelihood. My skill set is construction and repair of buildings & infrastructure, as well as maintenance of farm tractors and implements. Can also operate a field tractor and construction equipment. I also have a full set of tools and a truck.

Got my head screwed on straight and can get along with folks. I am interested in your project for 2016. please contact me @ snowcrash@planetmail.com.

Thanks!
