I currently run a small edible landscaping / permaculture design business and am looking for someone who can draw up landscape designs including full permaculture designs of properties of several acres. This is paid work based on the size of the project. I'd prefer someone with a love and knowledge of permaculture as it's easy to find people online who can make nice drawings but they often don't have any good ideas to add nor can they create a permaculture design without me spelling out every single step.

Typically I will provide aerial images that I shoot myself with a drone along with a description of what is needed and hand-drawn information over the aerial images, and I would be looking to get back a professional quality rendering using a landscape design program (preferred) or a hand drawn design (also nice but makes revisions very difficult).

If you're interested please email me with some samples of your work and a little about yourself!

Are there any permaculture projects in full swing or getting started in southern California? I'm going to be there for a few months this winter and would be happy to put my skills to work. My expertise is in launching startups and applying lean manufacturing processes to make market gardening easier to do and teach. Presently I'm working on a rapid start-up model that can be easily replicated and possibly taught in a weekend workshop.

Also - I'm a fulltime RVer, so would only need parking space and basic hookups.

Hello,

My wife and I have been on the track of doing something much the same as your describe. We've been to a number of sites but haven't seen one done really really well yet. We'd be interested in talking with you as we are currently living fulltime in a 30' travel trailer so would only need a spot to park and hook up, and have quite a lot of experience to offer. Here is a rough draft of a consulting model we've been working on, to give you an idea of what we're all about: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NafiN4p6e4Uo1kMZYP45exJ36jDqCHaEq-h9u_RQQIQ

Our goal specifically is to find a place to create our own sustainable homestead, we're interested in setting up market gardens, etc. We'll be in the PNW this coming spring as we plan on being in southern California for most of the winter.

Great stuff, we'll be stopping in Asheville in July, we'll see if we can make it to your workshop on the 9th/10th.

Yes, in many work exchange programs cooking duty is shared (scheduled) and everyone eats together. A monetary food allowance could be substituted.

Hey guys!

I'm not sure if you happened across the project I'm working on: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NafiN4p6e4Uo1kMZYP45exJ36jDqCHaEq-h9u_RQQIQ but it sounds like we're on a very similar path. I'd love to at least keep in touch as we each seek a more permanent spot in the west.

Tyler Ludens wrote:How exciting! I have a bunch of questions: Do you have a route planned or will this be dependent on which projects you select? Approximately how much $$ is required for the food allowance per day/week? Will you be available for small amounts of physical labor or only available for consultation? How long would you ideally want to stay at each location? When do you envision actually starting your journey?

Hello!

1. I have my first couple of stops planned, but after that it will depend on which projects I take on.

2. There isn't a set number, in my mind I imagined that the food would be provided directly, like with work exchanges.

3. We will be doing physical labor but it will be focused on setup, system implementation, training, testing etc

4. I would think no less than a month, but some projects might only take a week. The ones that excite me the most are larger in scope and could take considerably longer.

5. Next week!

Hi Steve and Daphne, thank you for your responses. I will definitely be in touch when we get to the PNW. Here is my idea and rationale written out a little more coherently: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NafiN4p6e4Uo1kMZYP45exJ36jDqCHaEq-h9u_RQQIQ

It is my intention to free myself of most of my earthly possessions, minimize my bills, and purchase a comfortable motorhome. This will provide me with a mobile, energy efficient home base and allow me to live debt-free (and free of most bills) as I travel the continent assisting like-minded souls in their sustainable construction, food production, and eco-business efforts. Here's my idea written out in more detail... I'd love to get feedback.
