Hey there!

in my garden community we want to make activated EM. Does anyone know much about EM and could help me?

I was wondering, if it is possible to make EM-1 from activated EM? We dont always want to buy EM-1 in the store as it it quite expensive and we'd like to be self.sufficient. I'd be happy about any ideas of how to continuiosly make activated EM at home.

Thank you

I can totally feel with Logan. When a freind asked me, to help him install watersystems for his kitchen and bathroom I got excited to do it. Though after doing some ressearch I noticed how complicated it is to deal with greywater and that sometimes there is no clear distinction between grey & black water. For examplesomeone wrote that the skin particles from our showers can promote the development of pathogens. So my fear of greywater is related to the pathogens it may develop. I guess its mostly a lack of knowledge about the chemicals cycles occuring during the decomposition of greywater.

Hey folks!

working on my first design, and planning to install a biofilter system for greywater leading into mulchpits next to an edible fence.
Now since we are in the Berlin area, where the winters can get down to -5°C, I was wondering if there's a way to insulate the pipes with mulch? Thinking here about the same process which heats up the hugelcultures.
So the concrete idea is to lay the pipes underground (sandy soil) and fill mulch around the pipe (bottom, sides, top) and top it up with the sand, for the distance they need until they reach the mulch pits, where the water is to be processed by microorganisms and feeding an edible fence.
I got the idea from the milkwood farm in australia and saw other people using the same system. Oasis design gave me the idea of the "mulch-insulation" for the pipe. Does that really generate enough heat to keep the are around the pipe above 0°C?

Thanks for inputs people! Cheers,

Robert
