50 acre ranch available for an experienced, full time farmer to partner and operate a chicken/pig/(other?) operation in the Dripping Springs area just west of Austin. I will provide the land and substantial capital while the farmer will provide all the necessary labor and some investment too. This is NOT an employment or volunteer opportunity: the farmer is someone who is ready to run a profitable, full-time business but still needs capital and land.
The ranch has about 37 acres of open, flat fields and the rest a mixture of oaks and other native trees. There are two wells and a year round creek runs through the bottom field. I will provide a RV/Trailer site for rent on the property, occupancy up to 2 people. The land was recently farmed by the Tandem Farm Company (search Google and the Bullock Museum to see photos and videos). Their most successful products were meat chickens, eggs and pork. The nearby Dripping Springs Farmers' market serves an affluent demographic where products fetch very good prices. The Austin area's high end restaurants are another outlet because they are often looking for reliable suppliers of pasture raised meats (especially organic). Growing crops is also possible – there is a fenced half acre of vegetable beds with irrigation.
The farmer must have interned or apprenticed on a commercial farm operation and provide at least two letters/emails of reference from the farm owners, Farmers' Market board members or other industry participants.
