My problem is musical instruments.
I used to play much more, but I have gone on to woodturning and blacksmithing.
I have two guitars, two violins, a mandolin and a banjo, all excellent expensive quality items.
I know I would keep my old german violin, but the rest could go...

I can't seem to let them go because I know how expensive they were. I want, and need, to get good value back out of them.
Nobody wants to pay a decent price, even 50%, but they would all love to have them on the cheap of for free.
Makes me feel very used and somewhat disrespected. They can sit in the closet till I die at this rate.

It's very weird, like mental illness. I do not play them, but refuse to part with them...because of emotion?
Hoarder!?

I just can't let go.....

Finished my shave horse today..man I am knocking projects out in this good spring weather!

This is for shaving barrel staves, shaping bows, and any kind of woodworking that uses a drawknife. You pinch the work against the platform by pushing the bar forward with your feet, or hooking it behind your shins. This design is good, because I can change out the heads, and put in a different one by function. Spoon carving mule, bowl or spoon-sinking platform for copper, and my latest inspiration, coopering.
I want to make needful items, like buckets and butterchurns. I like art, but dust collectors are not good in a downturn economy. Needful things always are.
Next project, a Drawknife!

I am a woodturner. The market for handcraft is tourist/seasonal. I used to do tech work, and in no way do I want to support a website.
I participate in the senior center holiday show, and I may put out some wares during one of the summer festivals.

I have a portable joan, and I love it!
Mine came with a beige cup and red pee-bottle. I never use the cup without the pee bottle, it would splash all over my shoes!
I took this when going up mountains for telescope parties. You can't use a light without shredding your night vision, and you don't want to wander too far off. With that portable joan, you can open a car door, stand up to pee, and dump it with 0 splash factor.

I keep it in my survival kit.
Look out boys! This is the great equalizer, chix peeing any ol'where.

Thank you, folks, I am starting to get my feet under me. Thank you for providing all this fantastic information!
I want to make a workshop that has a good heat source if we lose electric power at the house. My mama is older, and I think this is a great solution for soothing older bones.
What a great community!

My honeycrisp is at least 5 yrs old. I potted it for espallier, but I did not want to train it until it showed signs of fruiting.
...still waiting!
Western washington here, and it does not get very cold in winter. That might be the problem, but..
Am I wrong in thinking they graft a fruiting variety on to a base tree, and the actual fruit you buy and eat is genetically set to never produce? This seed did come from a supermarket apple.
I am getting suspicious.

Aha!

I would advise against trying a system smaller than 6" for your first build; that is the smallest size that tends to be reliable, and you want it to just work without adjustment and tweaking

Noob snooping is producing results. Realizing you must get this questions alot.

Howdy folks!
I was going to put a little grizzly cube stove in my workshop, when I started hearing about rocket mass heaters. I am liking the j type chamber and winding pipes through a bench.
Could I, instead of a barrel, use a smaller 8" steel pipe for the burn chamber?
Is there a tiny limit for proper combustion? I am guessing if it is too small, the gasses do not get a chance to burn off, but what do I know? Then I could do a smaller steel pipes through a small chair shaped mass, endcapped for shopvac access.
Endlessly curious, and this solution is facinating.
Sorry, total noobie here.
Online resources are preferred.

Much love!
