I live in the Pacific northwest where blackberries and poison oak create entire ecosystems of their own. I'm planning to use chickens penned by day with the electric netting on patches of this shista beginning in a few weeks. (theyll go back to their coop at night.)
I have 18 birds. I'll let them start and come behind with clippers and straw. in other words when they have things "managable" I'll move them to the next spot and work on their previously worked spot, cutting the long canes and covering the whole affair with straw for protection against erosion by rainfall.
this post began years ago, I wonder how it worked out for the Georgia gardener.
I've got to do something because the berries and 'oak are providing too much territory for rats! I see the recommendations for pigs. has anyone had them clear bramble?
