So In the woods at edge of my property I have discovered a HUGE old apple tree. It unfortunately was taken down by an even bigger black cherry but is still alive with roots in the ground. Tree has a diameter of 20 inches, and I estimate was at least 40 ft tall upright but hard to say. My “PictureThis is” app says it is a “paradise” apple. White flowers in April/May, round red apples in fall. 2 years ago Apple drop was good last year not as much. I don’t treat it and it’s surrounded by other brush and trees.
Any idea how old this tree can be? I never saw one so big. About 3-4 feet up it does have a twist like maybe it was grafted but I’m not a tree expert so not sure.
