Congrats from Summit County ! That's some nice looking land
Have you also thought about hay bales and stucco ? I've been looking at all sorts of non traditional construction and the idea of hay bales intrigues me...and CO is pretty dry, usually...

Total n00b to RMH/RBH tech but I saw in one video recently that you want the least mass possible for the chamber in order to keep the fire as hot as possible - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phrz7VjQdGo 30 seconds in...don't know if this helps...

Nice ! Soil maps and water data on the GIS, or more ? I was looking for some insect and animal population coverages my self, as well as point source pollution sites I could buffer around as I try to figure out where I'm going to land...

Just curious if anyone is successfully using farmbots or some other technology based creations as part of their setup, specifically with the goal in mind of reducing the amount of manual labor someone that has a hard time getting up and down all day would have to do to maintain their farms.
The farmbot is sort of a static solution, I also program robotics and am wondering how a farmbot type setup on top of a mobile wheeled or treaded crawler might work in a setup designed to accommodate such things...
Something like these nice little robots - if I had space and a working spine last year I'd probably be in this comp, or at least trying to be...anyone out there testing them out ?

Former construction worker and see the same thing. Everyone wearing a baseball hat instead of a 3 foot sombrero…
And I’ve had cancer cut out of my shoulder twice, 2nd time it was DEEP - you Do Not Want.

At the very least a wide sun hat and long sleeve white cotton shirts for the wicking action…

bumping an old post instead of posting a new one...

So now I'm 56, recovering from a spine surgery that might be just a little life changing (no more 70 lb packs uphill for miles just to get to the base of the objective...), back in a condo/hotelroom in CO but I'm selling and will use the money to land somewhere and grow the permifarm...looking for a compatible partner, I'm partial to mountains and winter instead of summer all the time, I'd rather be in the woods alone than downtown in a crowd most of the time, consider myself an honest conservative so I sound a lot like a liberal sometimes, don't believe in handouts but I also don't believe in exploitation just because it is legal, I think Corporate Crimes should be Capital Crimes etc...I care about the welfare of strangers, I ask everyone what their name is so I can treat them like a human and make them happy they interacted with me...Im a nice guy - we finish last. You'd think that alone would be a selling point lol

In any case I'm looking at places like the UP of MI, the MN boundary waters area, MT WY AK (not sure I could stomach what Idaho is becoming), I was raised Roman Catholic but I consider myself more of a shitty buddhist I DO things, I haven't seen most TV shows or movies because I would rather work on my robot army of farmbots.

I me me me me ....blarf....  Anyone out there feel like talking ? I'll try to not fall off the planet again like I did 2 years ago...

LOL
Curious to hear if anyone is getting ambitious with energy storage to create your own micro grid - something like pumping water uphill into holding areas when the sun is out/wind is blowing, then running it back downhill when you need the kilowatts…or any other sort of renewable energy storage ?

I envision some sort of series of holding ponds and a pond-aponics type setup to supplement the permifarm and am looking to brainstorm, store the ideas uphill

Do you have a time frame in mind ? If I don’t go back east to the UP or upper Minn I might want to land in MT for a few months while looking for my own property…though I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford anything there with the explosion of money that moved in. I was in Big Fork and Whitefish for a year during covid and never could find a place to land, wish we had overlapped 2 years ago Are sheets of plywood still worth more than gold ? People were milling their own green wood to build when I was in Polson…crayzeeee….
