I'm making masks with recycled materials. I usually use whatever is in the trash and recycling, kids art supplies, feathers, you know, whatever is freely available and that ends up being just amazing.

I was in a phase once of using cardboard to make layers. If you paint some elements of nature onto the board and then cut them out you can then collage with them and create depth. I wish I had a photo of something I made that way, but it was a long time ago.

Oatstraw infusion

https://spiraeaherbs.ca/oatstraw-nourishing-infusion-a-hug-for-your-nervous-system/

&

Saint Johnswort tincture

https://www.salubrainous.com/st-johns-wort-for-neuropathy/

Both are very safe. Saint Johnswort tincture can interfere with other medications, but oatstraw infusion won't. It is like getting the soothing benefits of oatmeal turned way up. Don't underestimate the power of the oatstraw. Both need to be used regularly and consistently for the best results. They are long term solutions to help the body rebuild itself.

Sending love, wishes for lots of healing and all the best.

Not that we need science to confirm the love of smelling rich soil, but it actually has been proven that we create Oxytocin when we smell the earth, he hormone of love and bonding. We literally evolved to love gardening. It's our ecological function and we get rewarded with happiness for doing our job

I was searching for some research to back this up. Unfortunately I cant find any online. I learned about this from Robin Wall Kimmerer in her book Braiding Sweetgrass.
Sunlight exposure is quite powerful and has plenty of benefits for us. My understanding is that it is very important to acclimate the body to being in the sun. I'm not sure what part of the world you are in, but if it is a place with a cold winter you can help your body by allowing yourself to be in the sun as soon as it warm enough for you to sunbathe. Get plenty of exposure before the sun becomes strong. You can start now in the summer by being in the sun in the morning or as it sets. You have to build a tolerance. In my experience this works, letting myself get tan and familiar with the sun before the hot summer hits greatly increased my comfort and tolerance for the intense summer season here in the mediterranean.

I think part of the problem has to do with the fact that it's hard to see ourselves. You know yourself, but not the same way someone who isn't you can understand you. It  surely helps to have good friends and communities helping each other out when it comes to finding a partner.

I'm not saying that we should have arranged marriages, but when the culture disconnects people from each other and prioritizes personal accomplishment over community solidarity it's hard to understand the way a good partnerships heal and support a whole community.  It's easier for people to not show up as their best in relationships when there isn't a community support when something is difficult (bound to happen at some points) and holding people accountable. It becomes easy for people to think that they are looking for the "best" partner and not the right partner.

Yarrow and Horsetail are also great for dental health. The silica in horsetail helps teeth grow and stay strong. I make a strong infusion to gargle with (like a tea but made with a lot of horsetail and brew for a few hours for maximum mineral content). Keep it in the fridge:)

Yarrow tincture helps gum cell regeneration and maintains a healthy mix of bacterias. Yarrow is also pain relieving, it's a great help for tooth aches, dental surgery and gum issues.

Thank you for the great advice.

Yes, they are carbonated. It sounds like the problem is indeed sloppy measurements, like John suggested, because the sugar added was measured based on the spoon being "full" and not every bottle was filled up to the exact same point. I'll try being precise next time and I think I won't have the same problem.

Thank you !

Any thoughts on the best way to restore an old plum orchard? The trees in question haven’t been cared for at least 15 years, maybe longer. There is fruit on some of the trees but alot of it is dropping before it’s ripe. What would be the best steps to take to strengthen the trees?

Is it worth using copper sulfate to kill the lichen (or maybe moss) growing on the trees? There’s a lot of it, but my impulse is just to remove it and not use the copper.

Thanks gaias <3

Hey. I have question I've been thinking about for a long time now…
Can we permacultural femmes revolutionize beauty and self care practices?
Could we create a culture of self care that respects the planet and celebrates the uniqueness and complexity of beauty?

Sometimes this feels like the last thing we should be focusing on with the earth burning around us, at least that’s what I’ve told myself so many times. But I keep coming back to these questions.

It’s been a theme in my life because I was raised by a single mother esthetician (if you’re not familiar with that high-tech word- that’s somebody who gives facials and removes peoples- usually women’s- unwanted hairy parts). So basically I grew up hanging out in salons with an inhaler in hand, due to my body’s absolutely normal reactions to the chemical body products.

It’s honestly mind blowing how many nasty chemicals are used- from hair spray to nail polish to just everything involved in the beauty industry has a bad ecological footprint and wreaks havoc in our bodies.

On purpose???

Ughh

And while I love letting my underarms grow hairy, embracing natural smells, colors, all that great stuff- I mean we certainly should not be ashamed of our bodies, but sometimes I get that urge to invoke the spirit of glamour…

Anyone relate?

So I was thinking this thread could be for badass hotties who want to be permie glamourous.

I recently saw that you can dye your hair blue with Indigo leaves. That is something I always wanted to do but thought I never could because it just went against my environmental ethics.
