I actually just designed a similarly small space for my new apartment. Instead of a murphy bed, I decided to purchase cabinet bed. The cabinet bed just looked nicer in my opinion and didn't make the room feel like a bedroom. Made it seem more like an office, which was preferable for what we wanted out of the room. Only downside to a cabinet bed is that you don't get to choose the thickness of the mattress. This is fine if it is primarily being used as a guest bed.
