Jk…. I agree with the assessment I hear most often which are meat rabbits are cleaner, quieter, easier to keep, don’t take too much room and on and on. The big issue here personally, is I don’t like rabbit meat. I wondered if there is a specific meat rabbit that has the most mild flavor. Not gamey in the least if possible?

As I said - not simple!

I’ve seen people use this same type of system for a water heater for their home, but I’ve never seen anyone use it for in floor heating. Although I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work. But as you said, not simple and I don’t believe that’s something I could DIY. Thank you.

Matt McSpadden wrote:Hi Anna,
Could I ask what prompted this question? What made you want to combine these two systems?

I think it could be done... but it would be very complicated to do safely. I have seen some people create RMH's that were lowered... so the bench/bell that most people have, was at floor level... essentially creating a heated floor.

I wonder if a different technology might be able to provide the hot water. There are some really good solar hot water heaters.

So I don’t actually want it to heat water for use. I’m thinking of a circulating system that would solve the problem of it being colder further from the stove. And as mentioned in my question, I became interested in maybe trying to figure out a floor heating when I learned how some Asian countries used an outdoor fire pit and blues to heat their floors. That idea is a little more scary to me, but I’m also coming to see that the potential for disaster here is high.
I wonder, though, if you could use flues under the floor with a RMH. Might have to scrap the whole idea.

Can you use a rocket mass heater/stove to provide the heat for an in floor heating system?
Historically the Chinese and Koreans used an in floor heating system using a fire outside the home that heated flues under the home.
I’m speaking more to either making the rocket mass heater also heat water that flows under the flooring or…..something.
It may be completely inefficient or just silly but I would like to know.

I maybe so far off face, however, could you not use a system that you simply siphon to start? If the system is circulatory, as it would need to be, once the siphon is started it should just really just continue. So between gravity to get the water down and Synn to get the water back up, I think that would give you an input free system

I know this has been here for awhile but I do have some thoughts on the matter.
As someone that spent the formative years of her life as within subsistence farming family, I have often longed to return to the life I found more peaceful, simpler and more rewarding.
The problem lies with the financial inability to purchase a land parcel small enough to manage yet big enough to grow.
I have to work, as does every other member of my family.
I have begun to look into the possibility of working from home permanently, since remote jobs have become more attainable following COVID.
I think this solves the issue of needing to work while allowing people to remain in rural settings.
Sadly, due to my spouse becoming disabled, we live paycheck to paycheck which takes me straight back to being unable to afford acreage.
However, for others, this model of living rurally while working remotely from home would, I think, be very appealing as it provides younger people possible ownership. Especially including tiny homes in the process.
Just my thoughts, I’m sure there are a thousand holes in the plan.
