I find this site inspitaional and educational.  Great to see Georgia folks.  I am in dahlonega, seems to be a good mix of old school gardeners/homesteaders and permie types.  I see my rabbit compost as source of all things good. 

Great insight.  I totally agree.  On the sheds I have built I have run generous overhangs, as much as 3 feet.  I find them appealing visually also.  I am of the opinion also that is mobile homes could or would follow this practice they would last. 

  This spring I added rabbit cages over on end of my compost bin.  Over the last few weeks I have noticed a steadily growing BSF population.  It sounds very strange but I am so excited,  its like a free permaculture gift.  They seem to be doing exceptionally well in the rabbit manure and in areas where the fresh kitchen scraps are dumped. 

  I am interested in containerizing a portion of them an trying small amounts of meat.  I supose the long term question is  could they eat the waste from rabbit processing?  Anyone have any experience with this?

Nice Work!  Projects that have the  parts "just come together" are the best.  and PBR is a great karma focuser.

Before you part it out... 1983 had a very few aircooled engines made.  If it is one of the few it worth something to the vw heads. Kinda rare.    But all thing considered  yes you can probably part it out for more than you can sell it complete. 

I think the best way to get a basic understanding it to look at some of the how to build a shed book.  As far as framing its a pretty simple house.   I teach Cubscouts by building a large doghouse.   Maybe look at an unfinished basement.  Most bookstores have a construction section.

My fave construction book  - " Carpentry and Building Construction" By John Feier and Gilbert Hutchinsons  My copy is  1980 so some of the info is dated but its still a pretty solid go to book. Maybe its been updated.
 
I love construction but  we've moved off of trailers.

The HUD site has some good info on trailer requirements and set up.   There are minimum performance standards listed.

    No doubt old trailers were poorly built.  Comparing them to new ones is not apples to apples.  I would encourage you to research a competent trailer manufacturer and compare them to stick built homes.  I think you will be suprised by the similiarities.

  Your views on "permanomics" are awesome!  I am constanly at my favorite hardware store getting nuts,bolts, washers, glue ect.  It becomes a challenge to reduce my waste and test my creativity.  I am amazed at what can be saved with simple,cheap parts.  For me its a source of pride.  I buy stuff with ability of repair parts in mind.  Sometimes companies or businesses think its strange when I ask the how long their stuff will last.  I have also found some that stand proud and provide realistic expectations.  As a consumer I dont see anything wrong with expecting my purchases to last and be fixable.

  For simplicity I like your idea of soaker hose and will be giving it a try.  Its a vegetable garden with soil that is slowly transitioning from "clay rock" to soil, (thanks to my rabbits for their help)  Been checking out the "fertigation" sites to get some ideas about mixing in my compost tea.
