This is the area before I used the excavator.

This is me using the excavator.

This is the area after I have done more than three scoops.

Note that I updated the requirements a little.   So for submissions after this, I think it will be a little easier to supply the pics, but the pics do need to have a picture of you driving.

I just remembered that I used a backhoe to dig footings for a cabin about a decade ago.  And I still have the pictures!!!  I had to dig about 15 holes, 4' deep for piers.  I hit many rocks but that just made it more fun.

Here's the lot before I started digging. Note the stump on the left.

Still not sure why I didn't dig a hole next to it for the boulder instead of pulling it out... Stump on the right.

So here is my attempt to show the three scoops! This is next to Alerton Abby so the ground has already been torn up from the work placing dirt back on the top so I apologize it is hard to see the work that was done.

Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

I'm certifying this BB complete, based partially on it being at a PEP event.  For those who follow, please post the pictures required by the BB's.  In this case (at this moment in time) a before pic, a pic with you scooping and a pic with you dumping.

Proposal for changing the requirements:

(This is not binding unless Paul approves it)

I'd like to see the requirements be:
Picture before you start
Picture of you digging scoop #1
Picture of you digging scoop #2
Picture of you digging scoop #3

That way, if the work is being done on a disturbed site (Allerton Abbey for instance) it's easier for the certifier to tell that the job is done.

Thoughts?

This is great whether the scoops are coming from the same hole, or if the back ground is clearly different. That said, Some of the pictures do a very good job of showing three piles of dirt (or better) in the after pictures.

I like this.  Only I think it should be dumping a pile rather than scooping.

Make it so!

I jumped on this opportunity to get the 3 scoops BB since I did it already, but lost my photos! Also, I re-did this BB before the requirements changed to have pics of all the scoops being dropped, although it was during a PEP event, so, here goes! Hooray for the Abbey umbrella!

I’m working out of state right now. Was able to take a couple quick pics while working. It’s not one of every scoop of dirt, but you can see there was a lot more then three scoops out of that hole.

Staff note (paul wheaton) :

Technically, this does not meet the BB requirements. But it is clear that it is you and you have done this, so the staff called me in to address this edge case.  I hereby certify that this BB is complete AND I'm going to ask everybody to put in a little more effort to reduce edge cases in the future.
