Want a letter?  Then here's a quick fix - get a letter right away and send a letter to the next person that posts after you. That's it, no long term commitment, just a letter for fun.

1. The next person to post (international included) gets a letter from the person in the post before their own, but you must then send a handwritten letter to the next person to post after you, who then must send a letter to the next after them, and so on.
2. PM your mailing address to the person who posted before you, once you see that your post is actually next.  (please remember to include your country when you PM the poster above you with your address)

Participate more than once if you like, but let's agree to send the previous letter before posting again.

How to write a letter

As a side note, this is a perennial thread.  Please feel encouraged to revive the thread if it falls into a lull.
Staff note (r ranson) :

This game is inspired (borrowed/stolen) from here.  http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/293480-the-next-poster-gets-a-letter-and-the-nextetc/ ;
only you don't have to own a fountain pen to participate.  Any handwritten epistle will do.

I've written my letter to Nicole, so it's time to jump in the game again.

Just a reminder to everyone, this is an international game, so pretty please, don't forget to mention what country you're in when you give your buddy your address.

I sent out 35 New Years Letters, a lot like others' christmas letters, which I very much enjoy receiving.  I sent radish seeds in all the gardeners I know.  Large root radishes.  If you haven't tried them yet, search watermelon radish or red meat radish.  also black spanish, shawo fruit radish, there are several others but I am working from memory here....

and the point is, I have been getting letters one at a time from some of those thirty five new years letters, and I am loving hearing from people.

So, I would love to play this game, and get another letter in the mailbox.

so, do we get mailing addresses from PM, and do I PM my address to the person above me?  Is that the one who is going to write to me?

I just tried to PM the user above me, without success.
Staff note (r ranson) :

Yes, once your post shows up here, please PM the person above you with your address.  The next poster will send you a PM with their address.

Thanks for joining in the game.

Thekla! I'm your guy! Christian Huble. I'll PM you my address.

What an absolutely wonderful idea. I have been wanting to send handwritten letters for years... maybe this stranger obligation will get the ball rolling for me. :0

[Edit: Seems like people are enjoying the heat where they're from; we're experiencing NEGATIVE -30 F in Minnesota, USA. ]

I've sent my letters off.

Bought some stamps.

The next poster will receive a letter from Canada.

It might take a few days before I can send it as we've finally got our first taste of winter and I have to go shovel the driveway (woot! my favourite part of winter! - no, seriously, I love this bit).

I don't know how long it will take for my letter to arrive in the USA. Anyway it's on its way to Alexis.

[edit, addded] So I got a PM, Judith asked for my address to send me a letter. Very nice! Now I'll receive two letters.
At this moment there's no-one next to me. When there is I can send one more letter. I still have some nice Dutch stamps ...

Hello everyone in this thread, I will join this endeavor and I also have generalizable permaculture design based interest for you all. As you can see in the images attached, I have utilized the permaculture idea of minimizing waste and mimicking patterns to create a template where on a single sheet of paper you can fold it to create its own envelope which seals with only a stamp while none of the writing is visible while folded and 100% of the non-visible space is utilized for writing. It is also the minimum size when folded to be sent by US mail which maximizing writing space. If you are interested in how to make the template or how to fold such a letter, which adds a very tasty flavor to your letters in my opinion, let me know and Iā€™ll help you.

Hi MRJ,
You can write ME a letter.

I sent one to Christian,no answer yet.  Got a letter from Ally, wrote back.
But I am not swamped with too many pen pals.

Raven, I'll PM you my address, in case you don't  have enough people to write to yet,

I'd wait to let you PM me,but I am done with internet for the day.

The letter game continues.

The next poster gets a letter from me.  (don't forget to send me a PM with your full mailing address - including what country!  Canada post has a very hard time with American addresses that don't include the country as they think state codes are international two-letter country codes)
