This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Nest.

In this Badge Bit, you will remove mold from a place.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
   - not on food
   - mold is on a permanent part of the house
   - maybe window sill or a spot on the ceiling
   - if using a cleaning solution, it must be non-toxic to the point of being edible-ish

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide proof of the following with pictures (or a video < 2 mins long):
   - before, during, and after of removing mold from a place
   - demonstrate it meets the above stated requirements

I noticed a new colony of black mound on the bathroom ceiling. If you don't tackle it straight away, it becomes a problem that can't be solved with a hot wet cloth and good scrub, which is what I did today.

Any requirements on the type of cleaning products used? I'm in a rental and had to tackle a HUGE area of long term black mold in the porch area. External solid stone/brick walls with no heating and no insulation. The internal walls and fixtures were black with it.

Soap and water were inadequate, because the staining had sunk into the surfaces. I ended up using commercial bleach based spray, which was highly effective. I'll be doing some more later this year I expect.

Paul is pretty strict about using toxic chemicals in PEP. I would say bleach based spray wouldn't fly for a PEP Nest badge.

This badge places a heavy emphasis on cleaning without toxic commercial cleaners.

Ohsoji (End of the year cleaning) Task 7 - Remove Mold

Edward's post actually reminded me to look up in the shower room. My vision isn't so great, so I had to look quite carefully but alas... mold spawned. The bathroom stays pretty steamy too, so the pictures are a little foggy... I think it's obvious enough.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - not on food
  - mold is on a permanent part of the house
  - maybe window sill or a spot on the ceiling

  - demonstrate it meets the above stated requirements

Before removal

Removing with a dirty sock! Efficient.

After removal.

I had some mold starting in my shower. It was on the back wall near the window, my guess is the hot water + the cooling of the window's air probably gave it a good home to grow.

AH! One thing I will never do is remove mold.  I am violently allergic or intolerant to it. I dry heave, I vomit, I become dizzy and faint.
It feels like this when I encounter mold:
