This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Nest.

In this Badge Bit, you will run a “self clean” cycle in a washing machine (or manual option with vinegar).

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
   - only natural cleaners

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide proof of the following with pictures (or a video < 2 mins long):
   - before, during, and after of running a “self clean” cycle in a washing machine (or manual option with vinegar)
   - show and describe what you cleaned the washing machine with
   - demonstrate it meets the above stated requirements

From “Clean and Green” by Nancy Birtwhistle I used vinegar and natural washing soda on a 'Clean washer' cycle.

I scrubbed the detergent tray, wiped out the inside rim, seal and glass after the cycle finished.

Doing some paint scraping and needed to wash some contaminated clothes. After washing those, I ran a rinse cycle with vinegar (in the main wash & the fabric softener slot). Came out looking clean!

Health problems for a couple of years prevented me from doing deep cleans of my home. Now that I'm on the upswing, BBs like this are giving me a good starting point.

I ran a hot cycle with vinegar, and I used a t-shirt rag with vinegar to scrub and remove the buildup toward the top of the drum.

I ran a hot water cycle with white vinegar in the main wash and in the bleach slot. I did have to use an old rag to scrub off some of the more stuck on grime, but overall, it is much better than before.

I ran the self-clean cycle and then just wiped down the tray and door with a cloth afterwards.

I used the self-cleaning cycle on my washer. I placed vinegar in the dish dispenser and a little baking soda in the bottom of the drum. I then used a spray bottle with vinegar and an old sock to wipe out the dispensers and the outside of the machine.

I used vinegar to clean the outside and inside of the washing machine. I then ran it on a heavy soil cycle with hot water with more vinegar in it. When that was done, I wiped it all out with my tshirt rags that I made earlier

Note: Looks good. You may want to label the dilution % of the vinegar, but that's not a requirement for this BB.

I'd never taken advantage of the Clean Washer setting before. We have really hard water so I used white vinegar in the soap/bleach dispenser and did some cleaning manually of where the hard water drips and dries.

I used the self-cleaning cycle on my washer. I used vinegar in the dispenser and sprinkled a little bit of baking soda in the bottom of the drum. To clean the little edge stuff on the tops of the dispensers and to clean the top, sides, and drums, I used my vinegar/water spray bottle.

I utilized the washer's built in self clean cycle. I decided that instead of the 'Attest' product that the cycle was made for, I utilized vinegar. I do this every few months with hot water to try and break up or prevent crud. Trying to account for confirmation bias, I do believe the clothes smell better after this is done.
