Here we go, hope we like it! We have a lot of dirt coming in and out of the house since we encourage the kids to get their feet in the grass. This rug has seen some abuse that's for sure!

We have two mats placed by the back door, both of which needed a cleaning. I took them outside, shook them out as best I could, then beat them with a broom stick. They were then left for over 3 hours in the sunlight before being brought back in.

Our dog lives under my desk when I’m sat there. Her bed is a rag rug which gets washed periodically. Today, I followed the steps outlined here. Was interested to know about sunlight killing bugs. I hung for couple of hours and then turned it around for a couple more hours so both sides had full sun.

Most of my house is carpeted, so the only rugs I have are in the bathroom. It was sunny this afternoon so I took them outside and beat them - I didn't think they looked that dirty, so I was surprised by how much dirt and gunk went flying! Then I let them hang on the clothesline in the sun for several hours (at least three, I started cooking dinner and completely forgot about them). I'm definitely going to have to do that more regularly, beating them is much more efficient than shaking them.

I don't have an area rug, so I cleaned 2 rugs from my daughter's room. I was surprised by the amount of dirt considering how little traffic is in that room. I used an old cane to beat them, and I finger-combed the hair out of the two-toned rug.
