I want to help make Rodney Sidloski's name and (worldwide patented) tree growing system famous!
(
source: Green Research and Discovery Corp)
Summary:
Rodney designed a floating raft system for growing trees and shrubs and all sorts of nifty plants on open water. It is inexpensive...like 2ยข a tree apparently for the initial 90 days growth. It provides long-term live tree storage, even in winter, so no need to babysit trees. It lets you grow A TON of trees. Especially willows and poplars.Trees are awesome. And if YOU grow trees, then I think YOU are awesome, too.Rodney wants "Research Associates" to test out his system on a variety of plants in a variety of places (for maybe $100).

research paper.
Here's the quick
video, I hope you check it out!
Here is another video, where he discusses how to gain access to his product.
Rodney Sidloski wrote:My first policy statement I'd like to make. There is no bar to entry of using this technology... anyone [who] wants to try out this technology...you're going to have my blessing. But we do want it in a orderly manner.
If you think this is cool, you could try it out too! There are three forms of utilizing this system:
1)
Individual wants to try it out: Rodney will give you a free license as a "Research Associate". It might cost ~$100 to HELP international- you may receive a raft system for growing 100 trees. In exchange, contribute to his research after 90 days. Take photographs and fill out research forms. You may not
sell the plants.
2)
Small Not-for-profits. Free license to produce. Provide feedback. May NOT sell the plants. Must give them away for free.
3)
Commercial. Small family 100,000 - 500,000 trees. Licensing. Or Corporate licensing for large scale.
I can hear some folks whispering to themselves
"But what if I don't have access to open water?"
Rodney S. in his YouTube comments wrote:Tutorials on DIY floating nursery. The fact is James Thornton, a $400 2 x 6 inch frame 40 x 50 feet with a $50 10 mil plastic liner in a full sun backyard is all the infrastructure one would need for a 100,000 tree or other plant floating nursery ...if one does not have an existing water body. Imagine, one single person could create for example a free tree program for their entire city or greater rural municipality or to give free trees for all schools in your state or province. James please see my policy statements, and much wider discussion going on on my FB page: Rodney Sidloski
I can hear another
permie murmuring: "
But. It's styrofoam."
Yes, however nature has a biological solution to styrofoam waste:
mealworms. Plus, it is only a matter of time before the idea spurs a derivative; a permaculturalized concept. For instance, perhaps bamboo of appropriate diameters could be used for the growing cells and floatation, instead? Who knows, maybe YOU could improve on his invention!
rsidloski@help-international.com for more info. I think I'm going to send him an email, and maybe try this out in another year or so. Who else is interested in raft culture?
