Make a map - PEP BB community.sand.map

This map is a broader part of my "Six Sisters Garden" project, a soon-to-be urban community space made for some deserving families.  

I drew this map to:

Help me determine appropriate numbers, sizes, and locations for plants, furniture, and other garden elements.

Rapidly prototype new design layouts and concepts, and then convey them directly to the clients.

Help communicate workshop station setup locations to other volunteers for an Earth Day workshop event I'm leading.

My map was originally drawn on a scrap bit of cardboard using information from Google Earth, as well as on-the-ground measurements and basic mensuration off of photos (e.g. counting floor tiles or fence notches from 360 photo-spheres in order to determine area or heights without having to take measurements).  Initially, I made paper cutouts to help think about layouts.  Then, I uploaded the map to Google Slides to fill in more details and share with the rest of my workshop team.

Here's a pic of the weird structure. seems like someone took a tarp and sticks and made a hangout area.  I keep my distance, who knows what's inside.

Black walnut grove. There are 5-10 black walnut trees here that are the perfect height for collecting the nutsr.

I've been contemplating offering a yard and garden tour to local neighbors and friends that have shown a lot of interest in either permaculture or even just growing their own food or flowers, or how to make their backyard more "natural" and encourage birds, wildlife, etc.  

This BB encouraged me to make something of a "self guided" backyard map and key.  It doesn't show everything there is to see in my small yard, but it highlights some of the main features and how they are laid out.

One of my achievements for Nikki's PEX was to meet 6 neighbors. My daughter Roo and I regularly walk the neighborhood, and that's how we met 6 new people. I made a map to document some neighbors and landmarks that we've come across, and I plan to add more as we continue to explore.

I like alliteration, and the names reflect that.

Not Your Playground - One neighbor has a nice playset that Roo would love to play on. I tell her nearly every time that it's not her playground.

I've made several maps to analyze my site on the way to this Site Map.  Current places plus some ideas for this summer; where should we offer Tiny house space, where should the solar panels go.  

The privacy fence and the pizza shaped gardens are first on the list this year.
