This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Round Wood Woodworking.

As your roundwood construction skills are improving, it's time to make things that are elegant while still being very sturdy.  A handrail and railing is a prime example, let's give it a shot!

Here's one way you could do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a sturdy handrail and spindles
  - Spindles are tight enough to not allow an 8" diameter ball to pass through
      - Building code usually requires 4" for child safety so please consider doing better than 8"
  - If on a staircase the handrail needs to be no more than 3" in diameter
  - At least 8' of railing
  - Can be two shorter railings that add up to 8'
  - Handrail is debarked and smooth

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - Place where the railing will go
  - Posts in place
  - Railing under construction
  - Finished railing with measurement

I think they should change the spelling to Sandy Eggo. This tiny ad agrees with me.
