This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Earthworks.

Ponds store water, support life and look pretty.  Who wouldn't want one?  Let's get out the shovel and make a pond!

Here's an excellent video by Andrew Millison about ponds:

Minimum requirements:
  - At least 20 feet across in all directions
  - At least 4 feet deep
  - Proper dam and spillway if:
      - in a valley or waterway
      - more than 2 acres of upstream watershed
  - Dug with machine or by hand
  - Naturally sealed
     - Gleyed
     - Physically sealed by you
     - Sealed by animals
     - Clay from within 5 miles

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - Landscape you're starting with
  - Pond perimeter marked out
  - Excavation underway showing depth is at least 4'
  - Finished pond
  - Pond full of water at least a month later
  - Spillway (if applicable)
