This movie takes you on an educational journey into innovative heating solutions. We focus on three main projects:
Rebuilding a rocket mass heater in a library, creating a new batch box rocket heater for a workshop, and installing a 6-inch J-tube rocket mass heater in the red cabin.
Join us to see how these groundbreaking yet practical heating designs work. They're not just efficient, they're also very cost-effective.

The movie also covers:

• Innovative Heating Designs: Discover the triple barrel batch box rocket heater, designed to meet challenging heating requirements and other experiments to optimize deifferent functions.
• J Tube with Pebble Cob Hybrid Mass: Explore the six-inch J tube with the mass hidden under a bed, combining pebble and cob for efficient heating.
• System Upgrades for Efficiency: Watch an upgraded system that ensures better heat retention and distribution in the absence of fire.
• Rapid Warming Capabilities: Explore the movie's focus on a space that needs to be warmed by forty degrees in just half an hour. This highlights the efficiency and power of the heating systems featured.
• Contrasting Heating Needs: Understand the differences in heating requirements between a frequently used house and a cabin that goes stone cold in winter, emphasizing the adaptability of the heating solutions.
• Daily Heat Maintenance: Learn about the strategy of adding a small amount of heat daily to maintain temperature, a unique aspect of rocket mass heaters relevant for cabin living.
• Innovative Airflow Control: You'll see the new techniques used to improve the draw during burns and passively impede airflow when the fire is out, ensuring maximum heat retention.
& much more!

We're excited to enhance your journey in rocket technology. Along with this movie, you'll receive comprehensive 3D plans for the Pebble Style Rocket Mass Heater!

Paul just published a video about the Triple Barrel Batch Box in the shop. It's one of the three builds showcased in the Freaky Cheap Heat Movie.

We finally got install completed, right in time for winter—just!!
Our Liberator rocket stove, is SOOOOOO wonderful!!
Now, we gotta rent a splitter, to break-up all the long-seasoned logs out back!  We’ve mostly been burning pellets….good pellets don’t leave clinkers & only leave small amount of fine ash.
This stove burns just about any wood pellets, because there’s more of them to keep each other warm, than in usual pellet stoves.   But, damp or badly made pellets, leave more ash, &/or, clinkers to clean out.   Still, cannot see smoke coming from chimney.

Cool Thing about rocket stoves & masonry mass stoves?….apparently,  States or cities that have passed laws against wood stoves, have NO problem with rocket stoves, because they are so efficient; & no one sees smoke coming from chimney.

November 2023.  So, before now.

Of course, if asked on february 19, 2024, logic suggests that the estimate should be changed to a date AFTER this moment.  Clearly, I suck at this estimates, so I guess I am trying to clearly state "I suck at these estimates."

I love it!  It's better than I thought it would be...and I thought it would be good!  It helps to see how things are built and know why they were built in that manner.

Respectfully submitted. Unless you're going to go the Ask Forgiveness vs Ask Permission, I'd get that in writing from the Dept Of Making People Sad. They all seem to have a real mad-on for anything that burns wood or gas (in YOUR home) vs the Holy Utility of Electricity and might veto it just from association.

Great movie! A lot of information packed into the story, (encyclopedic). Glad it's low tech stuff being there's still loads of achievements to pay attention to and plenty of progress happening at Wheaton Labs, apparently. Makes me want to come out and visit Wheaton labs in the spring and sling some mud! It's also a fun ride to sit back and enjoy the presentation as it puts most of the pieces on view, talks about the problems and how to solve them, and works at making good sense out of it all. Bravo! I will learn a lot from Freaky Cheap Heat  .

I am impressed and definitely feeling inspired and demystified enough to build my own. As some feedback, I think the film would have benefitted from: 1) A 2-5 minute animated/illustrated demo of how a whole/completed system works on the interior to give people a bit of theory from the get go and 2) a two minute sell on the economics of wood to BTU of this system vs others. I know you guys cover this stuff in other places, but for the video to be sharable to the average guy on the street, I think these two additions would help.

At the same time, the people that have seen all the previous movies, might feel like they are sick of hearing that stuff.

We are exploring putting some of that sort of thing on youtube.

Just what was missing to make me want to build build a Batch Box . But it will have to wait a bit, I'll start with a J-Tube and another oven before that.
