This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

We're really moving along in our carpentry skills, let's try an expert project.  Are you tired of swimming across that big lake?  Let's build a cedar strip canoe!

Here's a gentleman showing us one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a canoe or kayak from cedar or other light-weight rot resistant wood
  - At least 12 feet long
  - Fully usable and water tight
  - Needs to look like it was built by a craftsperson
  - Fiberglass/epoxy is reluctantly permitted for this BB
  - Store bought finishes are reluctantly permitted for this BB

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The lumber you're going to use for this project
  - Multiple steps through the construction process
  - Completed canoe
  - Canoe with someone sitting in it on the water

I met your mom on a Carribean cruise and she said you would help me and this tiny ad:
