Summary

Paul talks to several people during lunch at the SKIP event. It's tuesday of the 2nd week.

Among the attendees are Alexandra, Charlie, Rebecca and Rio.

People say Paul hasn't put out a podcast in a while, so he takes the opportunity at the SKIP event.  PTJ didn't take place because not enough tickets were sold so Paul is considering other options, like themed weeks to do things with bootcamp.

One thing needing attention is Allerton abbey: due to an error with the original roof, water from the roof landed on the deck and this rotted the 3 wing walls.  One has already been replaced.  Opalyn is currently working on window quilts 2.0.  If that could be completed, then a proper annual thermal inertia test can be done next year.  Finding the right person to do that is also tricky, needs someone who can do proper scientific rigor.

People keep asking Paul what's the number one thing he needs to achieve world domination, and it comes down to having the boot camp full.  They are still having trouble publicizing.  What he wants is video that goes viral, and to that end he'd like things to be completed, and tested, and the results documented.

They start talking about BBs, Alex has about 80 badges now, Rebecca is 4 short of PEP1 and plans to hit PEP2 by the end of the year. Rebecca also has her 2 oldest kids with her.  She's also open to talking to OTISes, which not all people doing BBs are.

They talk about how the SKIP event is going, it's going good but would be better with more people. Paul can't keep running events in the red, and without enough ticket sales, it's not making money.

Paul asks what BBs they've been working on.
Alex has been doing building, woodwork etc. which she can't do at home. She's also experienced driving the excavator, and plans to rent a machine in future.  She's sad that she has to leave soon.  Alex is also keen to reach PEP2 and is open to talking to OTISes.
Rebbecca has done a lot of RMH and willow feeder stuff which she can't readily do at home.

They talk about how long it might take to do PEP2 from scratch, they reckon if you could live at the lab, 8 months.
Paul floats the idea of people doing small events focusing on a few BBs which have similar requirements.

They finish up by talking about SKIP in general.

Oh this tugs at my heart strings SO badly.

I keep talking to my other half about it, and there's simply no way we can do it. If were were 20, or even 10, years younger without the ties here the other side of the pond we would jump at the chance. And then just when I'd steeled myself to another 'NO!' someone mentions the nearly-functional piano...

It still has to be a no though.

Someone, somewhere simply MUST be the perfect person for this and would have the most awesome time doing it.

After listening to the podcast, I believe that the idea of having each master (teacher) supply all materials for their prodigies (students) is a great way to offset costs for you.
Also, craft classes may as well include needle work, macrame, knitting, and crocheting. Kids (especially girls) love this sort of thing. Both my boys learned to sew on buttons and mend their clothes by age 10 and my daughter also cross stitched many a pillowcase (something I abhor). I love sewing and crocheting, making most of their clothing until they learned about designer brands (which I insisted that they buy for themselves).
I believe that, with all the heavy work that is being done, stretching before and after each class will save wear and tear on unknown muscles and cutting down on later aches and pains.
