I haven't seen this come up yet: Are dividends (from brokerage accounts) and interest (from savings accounts) considered residual income for this purpose? Or are those not skills-based enough?

Good question!  I know dividends from investments would count.  I believe savings accounts would as well but I'm not positive.

Was reviewing my tax documents and I think I may have the BB covered already!

I own a few shares of index funds that provide me with a little dividend money each year.

I've self-published a number of books over the years and last year became a Permies affiliate. Recently, I started selling my books on Permies Digital Market --> https://permies.com/f/442/leigh-tate.

My plan is to continue continue writing and adding books to the Digital Market. Also, I plan to become more active as an affiliate by promoting the books of others.

Here's my screenshot to show proof of meeting the income requirement.

Got my mining rig back up in running. These 1070s have already more than paid for themselves in the past couple years.

I created a PEP BB Calculator for Google Sheets and listed it for sale on the Permies Digital Market.  So far it has earned $5.39 this year, which should earn me an Air Badge in Commerce!

Here is the link to the PEP BB Calculator for Google Sheets in the Digital Market.

So my residual income stream comes from high interest savings. If I were to float in the ocean it would grow enough to pit a smile on my face.

There is a section on the that "big list" that says investing wisely, which is what I have done. I cannot draw from that account with incurring a fee so the money stays where it is!

I can't really attach a link nor can I easily make it identifiable to me but a screenshot was taken only moments ago from my phone.

It might not be the best but please bear with with me :)

This is my fist BB submission, so hopefully I am doing this right.

I hold several ETF's that pay out dividends on a regular basis. Currently they just get reinvested, so it should continue to grow year over year.

I have two computer that I use, one is a dedicated crypto miner and the other is my main PC which I mine crypto on when I'm not using it.

I've been running it since February and have been paid out over $1700 worth of Ethereum.

Let me know if you need any further information.  Even once Ethereum changes to proof-of-stake next year there are still several coins I can mine that will net $10+ a day with my setup (ie..ravencoin, aeternity, firo, etc)

Okay, I'll give this a shot with savings account interest.

This is an Ally online savings account with an APY of 0.50%. It will continue to generate interest as long as I leave money in it, which I plan to for the foreseeable future.

Note: I share this account with another person. Dividing interest income by 2 = $7.09 earned so far this year.

I run a small record label for myself and my friends called Vastitune, the label's Bandcamp alone pulls in a decent chunk of money so here's some screenshots of a recent sale as proof.

The label's Bandcamp is here, although our music is also on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, etc. My personal Bandcamp is here.

This sale was for my own music, so I get to keep the entire $4.14.

I earn a small amount of passive, residual income through an ethical investments scheme, Abundance Investment. Investing is one of the items on Paul's big list of residual income streams.

I have only invested a small amount of money, which I began quite a few years ago. Each time I receive a payout I roll it back into a new investment to continue growing the amount. All of the investments are ecologically-sound (most are community energy projects, although one I invested in today is local organic strawberries). To invest I have to prove I understand the risks through a simple questionnaire, then it is a case of reading the offer documents and deciding which, if any, company I agree with ethically and feel has a reasonable chance to succeed financially.

As you can see from the photographs I have earned more than $5 over the past 3 months. I typically earn about $15 per year from this and sign in once or twice to reinvest the cash. One day, when I have some spare capital, I'd like to increase the pot significantly.

Edit: added name in attachment

I arranged for issue number 299 of Mother Earth News to be in the digital marketplace as part of the SKIP kickstarter.  My article on starting a homesteading club was in that issue.  It's listed Here for $2.99 and it's sold at least once.  My cut was $2.76.  It will be listed for the foreseeable future so if I float in an ocean it should continue to trickle in money from time to time.  Here's a copy of the email from Gir Bot saying that one purchase was made:

I was deep into creating crochet patterns back in 2019, and though I haven't done much with them since, I always get a nice little boost to my day when I see someone has purchased one of the patterns that I sell on Ravelry :) I reckon with some more work (aka actually promoting it) I could be making more money off the patterns, but for now it's worked out quite well and completely passive needing no further input from me to keep running.

Here's a link to my Ravelry shop: https://www.ravelry.com/stores/little-seal-designs

And attached is a screenshot of sales :)

On the wiki post at the top, it says the residual can't be from an investment. But I see several investment payouts listed here. Is that an artifact of the standard changing over time or am I misunderstanding something?

Not sure this is how to submit first step in commerce, but -- I bought chicks, raised them, sell eggs weekly for $3.00/dozen and have 2 repeat buyers who always pay more for some reason. I keep the cash in a small canister and use that money to buy bedding and feed.  At this rate, I rarely had eggs for myself so I built a larger coop and run and plan to buy triple the number of chicks next spring.

Remelle, great work! Sounds like your customers really appreciate your eggs! I'm pretty sure to get this approved it needs to be posted under a different income stream, the "sell things you made or grew" one. here,  https://permies.com/wiki/115132/pep-commerce/Sell-goods-grew-foraged-PEP
This one is for income that happens even if you don't put any more work in, like book royalties or earnings on YouTube videos.

Not sure this is how to submit first step in commerce, but -- here is my edit since my chickens don't count for residual income.

I started my Amway business in 1996 and have several customers who were once my downline,  didn't want continue as IBO's but still love the products.  When they buy or sell products I receive a little bit, about $6/from each per month, as well as when I buy products wholesale, I earn PV and BV and get a check back or earn a credit for my own purchases.

In 2019 I joined Zilis, a CBD company and they are set up the very same way Amway is, as the owners are ex-Amway people, so there you go.  This business boomed in 2019, waned in 2020 and I have not actually done much selling this year but still can buy wholesale and get a little back when people buy from me.

I have attached my 2020 tax form for Amway

Remelle, taking a screenshot of the pdf (making sure it shows your name and the amount you got paid) and adding it to the post as an image would probably be enough for the passive income one. My guess is it would then meet the requirements.

I admit to not having certification for commerce things where I earn enough, because I don't have the correct details to verify it or could verify it but don't want to post that much personal info on a public forum. It's necessary to show enough so that anyone could look at it and easily see how it meets the requirements. Because the ultimate goal of all this for those doing it seriously is to inherit a property, the certification process needs to be rock-sold and unchallengeable. Glad I'm just doing it for fun and to learn!

Note: You also need to provide "A link to it" so that we can tell the $75 was for that and not for paying you back for drinks at the bar Friday night.  Side note: is this really a residual income stream?  Did you set it up and you now don't have to do anything to keep it going?  Or is it closer to "work done over the internet"?

This is my submission for the residual income badge.
