This has a been a long time project! Over the last month and a bit I've just been slowly whittling and carving my way to a spoon. I saw someone cut down their apple tree from the front yard and asked if I could have a couple logs for things like this as well as meat smoking. It's had a bit of time to dry so that I didn't carve it into shape and have it crack on me. That would of been devastating! But it's finally done and I couldn't be happier.

Edit: a hopefully more spoonier spoon!
p.s. it actually makes more sense to have changed it. Thanks for the hint 😊

Staff note (gir bot) :

Someone flagged this submission as an edge case BB.
BBV price: 0
Note: As with many previous edge case submissions, the bowl of the spoon is not quite what we would expect from a finished spoon. Keep going a little bit more on the eating end! The rest looks good.

Staff note (gir bot) :

Someone approved this submission.
Note: I hereby certify this badge bit complete. You finished the bowl well.

For future reference, a good way to get our attention for BB stuff is to use the "Report" button and write a note telling us you edited your post and would like attention.

Second attempt with spoon BB with a better carving tool.

Edit: it has been sanded with a 400 sandpaper. Here's a video with a better view of the bowl.

Staff note (L. Johnson) :

The bowl of your spoon still has some roughness.

Keep sanding it or use a card scraper or other tool until it's silky smooth. Add another picture to this post, or post again with the additional work and we can probably approve it.

I am so happy with how this turned out. My tools were mostly borrowed from my brother, so he has my gratitude.
I found a green piece of Rose of Sharon wood and used that.
Here is the link to the carving set I used:

Just finished carving a nice little poplar spoon. I guess you can't really call it a first timer spoon since I had carved one before, but I defiantly got some more Whittling experience, which was good.
