Hello everyone!
My name is Jonah, I'm in my mid twenties and my wife and I (along with my brother and his girlfriend, our dog, seven cats, four chickens, a turkey, and a turtle!) have a house on 0.22 acres in suburban Saint Charles County, Missouri. I am in my third year of converting our yard from a near-monoculture of turf grass into an oasis of vegetable gardens and native trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses, with an emphasis on edible or otherwise useful plants. I work for the Missouri Department of Conservation, and have access to incredibly cheap tree and shrub seedlings as well as a group of coworkers that share plants with each other on a regular basis. I am also responsible for managing 17 acres of forest that my family owns in the Ozark hills of Washington County, MO that I am beginning to manage for silvopasture, forest farming, and wildlife habitat. I am currently working toward a Master of Science degree in Natural Resources from the University of Missouri with an emphasis in Agroforestry.
I have been lurking on these forums for several months now, and should have registered a long time ago. I have already gathered tons of ideas from these forums, and figured I should finally get around to sharing my own. At some point I will take decent pictures of my projects to share with everyone and seek your collective advice.
I look forward to picking all of your brains, and hope you will do the same to mine!
